My Seasonic 2x8 is rated for 600W, but those Shift series use a special flat cables and may not be rated for as much. It doesn’t have an actual 12->12+4 socket/pin out and uses dual PCI-e x 8 pin like a lot of adapters. My guess is 450W is the recommended cable max on the 1000W unit. Hmm… I haven’t heard about the 12vhpwr issue and I’ve haven’t been follow the Shift series since I can’t use it. If that were the case, i'd get an universal a-rgb controller or simply a a-rgb hub to connect everything to the mobo. i'm also not sure if the Commander supports a-rgb too, or only rgb. I'm saying this because I'm considering getting some a-rgb non-corsair fans and in this scenario I believe the Commander wouldn't make any sense because this controller doesn't use universal rgb connectors. I believe this will also simplify my setup, as I'd be able to connect all pwm without any specific disposition by running all fans at the same speed (all connected to the 5000d controller, in case if I would were to skip getting a Commander). Actually, I bought yesterday the 5000D and a rm1000x shift psu. The idea for going with the 140's was to improve the intake flow but at the end, and as you have suggested, I will go with 3x120's in front and top, and 1x120 back. So I will buy everything for this build except my drives. Thanks a lot for the quick reply!! Now I understand how LED non-rgb works. You’re not going to be running all your fans at maximum and tweaking speeds in the normal middle zone will allow you to tip the flow one way or the other as needed. This can cause some extra fan blade noise (hum) if they get too close to hat rail.ĭon’t worry about exact intake vs exhaust airflow balance based on maximum speed. Be aware they will overlap the 120mm rail. The case was designed for 3x120 on the front rail. There isn’t a noise or airflow advantage. While it may be possible to do this, the only reason would be you already have this specific arrangement of fans. The logical use in your setup would be to use this as your splitter for either pair of 140mm fans.ġ40-120-140mm front panel. Connect 1-6 fans, then run the control lead back to any fan controller. There was a a PWM hub included with the case. You will be able to connect a 7th fan for speed control on either unit with a simple 4+3 PWM splitter. The Commander Pro will need a RGB lighting hub booster to be used with Corsair RGB fans. The C-Pro can run DC fans and has two led channels if you are interested in RGB strips or other devices. The Commander XT is newer and would allow an easier transition to RGB fans later, if desired. There isn’t an obvious preference here with PWM fans and no RGB. That would be the Commander Pro or Commander XT. If you want software programmable control (CUE) instead of motherboard software or BIOS, then you need a Corsair fan controller. Standard motherboard or fan controller connection. You do not need any RGB controllers for them the led power comes in on the fan power line. They are PWM 12v and will not dim as you change speed like DC LED fans of old. The “LED” fans are non-adjustable and a fixed brightness. If I use a Commander, what will be the purpose of the controller integrated in the case?.Also, if I’d pick the Commander Pro over the Core xt, would I need and additional rgb hub to control the non-rgb white leds?.If I do actually require a Commander for any light adjustments and I end up using 7 fans, could I use a splitter to control 2 fans with same header (simultaneously, not independently), and only require a single Commander?.Do I need to get a Commander (Pro or Core xt) to control fan speed and LED intensity? I know the controller included in the 5000D can control speed and cannot control rgb, but I was wondering if this controller could adjust the non-rgb white leds (on/off/intensity).Does this fan config make sense for proper airflow? With 7 fans I’ll have more flow leaving the case than the one getting in (IN 2x140 + 1x120 // OUT: 2x140 and 2x120).and the 2x140 closer to the back.Īs you can see, I might need 6 or 7 case fans in total. Ideally, although I'm not sure if they will fit, I'd like to use a similar 140/140/120 config as in the front, keeping the 120mm one closer to the case front. Top: 2x ML140 LED Elite (& 1x ML120 LED Elite).Front: 2x ML140 LED Elite & 1x ML120 LED Elite in the middle (as shown here: ).I'd like to equip it with the following full air and non-rgb fan setup (only white leds): Last time I built a pc was long ago, I was poorer and, hence, things were a bit simpler. Hi, I am starting to get a bit overwhelmed while planning my new build on a 5000D Airflow.
